Expect some dust over the next few days as I upgrade the site and start adding new content!

Buggin’ OutAfter a short run, The Bugout Bag is buggin’ out.
I have too many irons in the fire, and nothing is getting done well, so I’m going back to my roots in the outdoors. My writing will focus on two sites, rather than the six I’m currently floundering with.
You can check out The Tracking & Awareness Journal, and The MicroFarm Journal for more posts on wilderness survival and “civilized” self-sufficiency.
This site will remain online for a bit longer, but this will be the last update.
Disaster Recovery Personal Protection Act of 2006 Passes CongressSo, now it’s official (pending President Bush’s signature)–officials can’t take away legal firearms from law-abiding citizens during states of emergency the way they did in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
Looters, you have been warned.
A legend leaves us…..I had intended to let the Carnival post ride at the top today, but I just found out that Col. Jeff Cooper has passed on.
Marc “Armed Liberal” Danziger remembers him over at Winds of Change.
All I can say is that like many of us, I was influenced by his writing. During my time as an Arizona Ranger, I tried to incorporate his shooting tips and his philosophy into my work and thinking, and found that both were improved as a result.

Carnival of Preparedness & Survival No.1
Welcome to the September 27, 2006 edition of Carnival of Preparedness & Survival.
This is our first Carnival! There aren’t many articles, because I didn’t get the word out soon enough to give writers time to submit their work. I plan to do better next time!
Please take a few minutes to check out the submissions for this issue. Leave a comment for the authors. And start working on your own article for the next issue!
John Buehler gets a flier from his water utility and reads past the self-congratulations: The 3rd Channel » What’s in your Water?
If a disaster (of any kind) struck, would you have enough cash to get through the financial pinch? Bryan C. Fleming presents How to Get Through a Cash Pinch.
Andrew Leahey writes the article I’ve been meaning to write–Disaster Planning
Lyrois has a cool little survival kit with photos here: The SAS Survival Kit: A Not-Only-Geek Must-Have
Brandon Peele shares an experience that shows the need of planning: Vision Quest.
Doctabones wonders if survival is worthwhile if you have to survive with some of the…um….shall we say “less conventional” Survivamentalists.
That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of carnival of preparedness & survival using our carnival submission form
UPDATE: Ok, I’ve smashed the code into submission…I think. BlogCarnival has some handy software for managing submissions, etc, but at least part of the page that was automatically created seems to be incompatible with WordPress. If you experience problems with this post, please let me know and I’ll get a bigger stick and whack it again.
If I missed anyone, my apologies–I’m learning (again) to not rely completely on the handy-dandy software!

Now here’s how to use it.
Local government can’t be bothered to adquately prepare, wants to take your supplies….Ok, this is just really dumb.
And note the addition of the Equipped.org blog to the blogroll.
Carnival of Preparedness & SurvivalAnnouncing the Blog Carnival of Preparedness & Survival!
What’s a Blog Carnival?
It’s a specific kind of blog community. It collects links pointing to blog posts on a particular topic. It’s a great way to keep an eye on what’s going on around the topic, and to find interesting writers you wouldn’t likely have found otherwise. more
Download LibraryWhen you subscribe to the free newsletter, you also get access to the new download library!
It’s not much of a library at the moment, but as time goes on, it will contain checklists, hotsheets, a variety of books, etc. more
