You can check out The Tracking & Awareness Journal, and The MicroFarm Journal for more posts on wilderness survival and “civilized” self-sufficiency.

All I can say is that like many of us, I was influenced by his writing. During my time as an Arizona Ranger, I tried to incorporate his shooting tips and his philosophy into my work and thinking, and found that both were improved as a result.

Welcome to the September 27, 2006 edition of Carnival of Preparedness & Survival.

This is our first Carnival! There aren’t many articles, because I didn’t get the word out soon enough to give writers time to submit their work. I plan to do better next time!

Please take a few minutes to check out the submissions for this issue. Leave a comment for the authors. And start working on your own article for the next issue!

John Buehler gets a flier from his water utility and reads past the self-congratulations: The 3rd Channel » What’s in your Water?

If a disaster (of any kind) struck, would you have enough cash to get through the financial pinch? Bryan C. Fleming presents How to Get Through a Cash Pinch.

Andrew Leahey writes the article I’ve been meaning to write–Disaster Planning

Lyrois has a cool little survival kit with photos here: The SAS Survival Kit: A Not-Only-Geek Must-Have

Brandon Peele shares an experience that shows the need of planning: Vision Quest.

Doctabones wonders if survival is worthwhile if you have to survive with some of the…um….shall we say “less conventional” Survivamentalists.

That concludes this edition. Submit your blog article to the next edition of carnival of preparedness & survival using our carnival submission form

UPDATE: Ok, I’ve smashed the code into submission…I think. BlogCarnival has some handy software for managing submissions, etc, but at least part of the page that was automatically created seems to be incompatible with WordPress. If you experience problems with this post, please let me know and I’ll get a bigger stick and whack it again.

If I missed anyone, my apologies–I’m learning (again) to not rely completely on the handy-dandy software!
